Your spreadsheet shouldn't fight you every morning.
I clean up messy workbooks and build VBA automations that turn a two-hour Monday chore into a one-click report. Built for the way your business actually works — not a generic template.
Three ways to get your time back.
A quick look at the services — see the full breakdown on the Services tab.
Spreadsheet clean-up
Untangling broken formulas, messy formatting, and bloated files so they're reliable again.
VBA automation
Macros that take your repetitive, click-heavy tasks down to a single button.
Ongoing support
A monthly check-in so your tools keep up as your business changes.
Send me the spreadsheet. I'll tell you what's wrong with it.
No charge for the look, no pressure after it. Just a clear answer on what's fixable and what it'd take.
Spreadsheet clean-up
I untangle broken formulas, inconsistent formatting, and bloated files, and rebuild the structure so it's reliable again.
- Formula auditing & error tracing
- Data cleaning & deduplication
- Restructuring for speed & clarity
- Removing broken links & circular references
VBA automation
I write macros that take your repetitive, click-heavy tasks down to a single button — built around how your team actually works.
- One-click reports & dashboards
- Automated imports & exports
- Custom tools & user forms
- Scheduled or trigger-based macros
Ongoing support
Spreadsheets aren't "done" — your business changes, and the tools should keep up without you needing to call me every time.
- Documentation, so it's not just "Dave's file"
- Staff training & handover
- Monthly retainer for tweaks & fixes
- Priority response when something breaks
If any of this sounds familiar, we should talk.
Most clients don't come to me because they want VBA. They come because something specific is wasting their week.
One wrong click breaks everything
Someone inserted a row, a formula shifted, and now three tabs reference the wrong cell. Nobody's sure which numbers to trust.
The same manual report, every Monday
Copy, paste, reformat, recalculate, repeat. It's the same fifteen steps every time — which means it's the same fifteen steps a macro can do instead.
Twelve versions of the "same" file
Master_v2_final_USETHISONE.xlsx. Nobody remembers which copy has the real data, and merging them by hand is its own afternoon lost.
Data that won't talk to each other
Exports from your CRM, your bank, and your till all land in different formats. Right now, someone retypes the bridge between them by hand.
It only works because Dave built it
The workbook that runs half the business depends on one person remembering how it works. If Dave's on holiday, so is the report.
It used to work fine. Then it grew.
The spreadsheet that was fine at 200 rows is unusable at 20,000. It's slow, it crashes, and nobody dares touch the formulas anymore.
Send the file over — I'll tell you what it needs.
A free consultation will tell you whether it's a clean-up, an automation build, or both.
Send me the workbook
Free, no-obligation look at what you've got. I'll point out what's broken, what's salvageable, and roughly what it'll take to fix.
Fixed-price quote
You get a clear scope and a number before any work starts — no hourly meter running while I poke around your formulas.
Build & check in
I work in short stages and share progress along the way, so there are no surprises when the finished file lands in your inbox.
Handover & training
A short walkthrough so your team knows how to use it — plus simple notes so the next person doesn't start from zero.
A typical clean-up, step by step.
Every workbook is different, but most clean-up jobs follow a similar shape.
Audit the formulas
I trace every formula back to its source to find where things break, duplicate, or contradict each other.
Standardise the data
Dates, currency, text formats — all brought in line so totals actually add up across tabs.
Automate the repeat work
Wherever the same manual steps happen weekly or monthly, that's where a macro goes in.
Step one starts with you sending a file.
Free consultation, fixed-price quote, no pressure either way.
Quick Fix
For one broken sheet that needs sorting this week.
- Single workbook clean-up
- Formula & error fixes
- Turnaround in 2–3 days
Automation Build
For replacing a recurring manual task with a working macro.
- Custom VBA tool or report
- Clean-up of source data
- Staff walkthrough included
- 2 weeks of free tweaks
Ongoing Support
For businesses whose spreadsheets keep evolving.
- Monthly check-in & tweaks
- Priority response time
- No long-term contract
You know the number before I start.
No hourly billing, no meter running while I'm reading your formulas. The free consultation tells us both what's involved, then you get one number.
No surprise invoices
What's quoted is what's billed — even if the job turns out trickier than expected on my end.
Scope agreed up front
You'll know exactly what's included before any work starts, so there's no ambiguity later.
Bigger jobs, staged pricing
For larger rebuilds, we break the work into stages with a price for each, so you're never committing to the whole thing blind.
Send the file — I'll tell you what it actually needs.
The free consultation comes with a clear, specific quote. No commitment required.
Excel Data Solutions is run out of Launceston, working with small and medium businesses across Cornwall and remotely across the UK. No call centre, no account manager — you talk to the person who writes the formulas.
The goal is always the same: spreadsheets that work the way your business actually runs, that someone other than you can pick up, and that don't fall over the moment they get busy.

The hexagon traces a spreadsheet grid; the rising arrow is the result of fixing it.
A few things clients tend to appreciate.
Plain English, no jargon
You'll never get an explanation that assumes you already know what a pivot table is.
Built to outlast me
Documentation and training mean your team isn't stuck calling me every time something needs running.
Honest about what's not worth fixing
Sometimes the right answer is "start fresh" rather than patching something held together with tape. I'll tell you which.
Send over the spreadsheet that's bothering you.
Free consultation, no pressure, straightforward answer either way.
Do you work with businesses outside Cornwall?
Yes — most projects are handled remotely over email and screen-share, so location isn't a barrier. Being Cornwall-based just means local businesses can meet in person if they'd prefer.
What if I don't know what's wrong, I just know it's slow?
That's the most common starting point. Send the file over for a free consultation and I'll diagnose what's actually causing the slowdown before quoting anything.
Will I be able to use what you build without you?
Yes — every project includes a plain-English walkthrough and notes, so your team isn't dependent on calling me every time something needs running.
What versions of Excel do you support?
Modern Excel (365, 2019, 2016) and older desktop versions. If you're unsure which you're on, send the file and I'll confirm compatibility before we start.
How long does a typical project take?
Quick fixes usually turn around in 2–3 days. Larger automation builds typically take one to two weeks, depending on complexity — you'll get a clear timeline with your quote.
Is my data kept confidential?
Yes. Files are only used to complete your project and aren't shared or reused elsewhere. Happy to sign an NDA if your business requires one.
What if I need changes after the project is finished?
Small tweaks within the first couple of weeks are included. After that, changes are quick to quote, or you can move to an ongoing support plan if changes are frequent.
Just ask — no question is too small.
Send a message or the file itself, whichever's easier.
